Connecticut Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)

Connecticut runs both its prisons and its pretrial jails under one department, and the guide covers the facilities currently open, leaving out the closed ones. There is no statewide visiting schedule: each facility's current PDF schedule is posted on the Connecticut DOC Visiting page, and there are no visits on state holidays, so the facility's own schedule is the one to check. The guide lists each facility with its address, phone number, and warden, from Bridgeport and Hartford correctional centers to York Correctional Institution, the women's facility in Niantic, and Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown. A few mailing addresses use a P.O. Box, including Osborn Correctional Institution at P.O. Box 100, Somers, CT 06071, and Robinson Correctional Institution at P.O. Box 1400, Enfield, CT 06082. The visiting rules note that you must be an approved visitor, and video visits must be pre-scheduled with the facility's Video Visiting Request Form and are not scheduled until the facility confirms. The department is led by Interim Commissioner Sharonda Carlos, and the central office is at 24 Wolcott Hill Road, Wethersfield, CT 06109, phone 860-692-7480. Schedules can shift, so confirm with the facility before you travel.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
