Florida Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)
Florida's guide covers 77 institutions, annexes, units, and re-entry centers across the state, with each facility's address, phone number, and warden listed. If your loved one is in Florida custody, the first step is approval: you must become an approved visitor by completing the Visitation Application, form DC6-111A. Everyone aged 12 or older must apply, and you mail the form to the Classification Department at your loved one's current location, or e-mail it to that location. Processing takes about 30 days, and the inmate is notified of the decision.
Once approved, you still need to schedule each week's visit. Approved visitors must complete the Visitation Scheduling form before visiting, and it is available only between Monday at 5:00 a.m. Eastern and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Eastern. There are no walk-up appointments without a scheduling form submission, so plan that window into your week.
Statewide visiting hours are Saturdays, Sundays, and designated holidays, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern (8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Central), though hours may be reduced or suspended by the institution. A few facilities are listed as temporarily closed, and schedules change, so the guide's advice is simple: call the facility to confirm before you travel.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
