Indiana Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)
Indiana's guide covers all 18 adult facilities linked from the department's Find a Facility page, under Commissioner Lloyd Arnold, with each facility's address, phone number, and personal-mail address. The mail rule is the detail families most need to get right. Personal mail goes to the person by full legal name and DOC number, with the facility name, at P.O. Box 460, Phoenix, MD 21131. Attorney-client mail and packages still go directly to the facility, and after July 31, 2026, personal mail sent to the wrong location is returned to sender.
There is one exception in the guide: personal mail for the Reception Diagnostic Center goes to 727 Moon Road, Plainfield, IN 46168, rather than the Phoenix address. Getting that address right matters, because the return-to-sender rule leaves no room for guessing.
For visiting, there is no statewide schedule. Days and hours are facility- and unit-specific, shown in ViaPath and on facility pages, and the guide points families to the department's "Visit an Incarcerated Individual" page. As always, the guide's advice is to call the facility to confirm before traveling, since schedules change.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
