Kentucky Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)
Kentucky's guide covers all 14 adult institutions run by the Division of Adult Institutions, under Commissioner Cookie Crews, with each institution's address, phone number, and warden. The list runs from Bell County Forestry Camp in Pineville to the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville and the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women in Pewee Valley, with complexes at West Liberty, Central City, LaGrange, Beattyville, Sandy Hook, Burgin, Wheelwright, and Fredonia in between.
There is no statewide visiting schedule in Kentucky. Each institution posts its own Visiting Information page, and most list Saturday and Sunday daytime hours, but the guide is clear that the facility's own page is the authority for its times. That makes the guide a starting map rather than a timetable: find your loved one's institution, note its phone number, and confirm before traveling.
The guide's standing advice applies here as it does everywhere else: schedules change, so call the facility to confirm before you go. The department's central office is listed at 502-564-4726, with a mailing address of P.O. Box 2400, Frankfort, KY 40602-2400.
