Nebraska Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)
If your loved one is in a Nebraska prison, the first thing to know is that there is no single statewide visiting schedule. Each facility posts its own visiting sessions, and you request a visit through the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Schedule a Visit system at least seven days ahead. The guide covers nine facilities, including the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln, Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln, the Omaha Correctional Center, the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York, the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility in Omaha, the Work Ethic Camp in McCook, and the Community Corrections Centers in Lincoln and Omaha.
Because schedules change, the guide repeats one piece of advice at every facility: call the facility to confirm before you travel. The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services is led by Director Rob Jeffreys, and its central office can be reached at (402) 471-2654, by mail at P.O. Box 94661, Lincoln, NE 68509-4661. The guide also notes that individual facility lines are not monitored around the clock, so for an immediate concern you should call the facility's main line.
For mail, the Nebraska State Penitentiary lists a mailing address of P.O. Box 22500, Lincoln, NE 68542-2500, separate from its street address at 4201 S 14th St., Lincoln. Each facility entry in the guide gives its own street address and main phone number, from 402-471-3161 for the penitentiary to 402-362-3317 for the women's center in York, so you can reach the right place directly and double-check the session you plan to attend.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
