Nevada Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)
Visiting a loved one in a Nevada prison almost always starts with an appointment. Under the Nevada Department of Corrections, led by Director James Dzurenda, most facilities ask you to schedule by email to a facility visitation address, and many run on alternating week-on, week-off schedules, so the week you plan to visit matters as much as the day. Ely State Prison, for example, runs visiting 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on days assigned by housing unit, with appointments made up to 30 days in advance, and a temporary week-on, week-off schedule runs to January 3, 2027.
The guide walks through fourteen facilities, and the rhythm changes from place to place. Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center holds Friday through Sunday sessions at 9–11 a.m., 12–3 p.m., and 3–6 p.m., plus Monday visits for assigned units. The conservation camps mostly visit on Saturday or Sunday mornings: Carlin and Pioche run Saturday and Sunday 8:00–11:00 a.m., Jean runs Saturday 7:00–10:45 a.m., and Stewart runs Sunday 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Northern Nevada Correctional Center. Humboldt Conservation Camp is the exception the guide flags honestly: its visiting days and times are not published by the department.
Mail addresses are given per facility, such as P.O. Box 1989 for Ely, P.O. Box 650 for High Desert, and P.O. Box 7000, Carson City, NV 89702 for Northern Nevada. All visits must conform to NDOC AR 719 and facility operating procedures, and the guide's steady advice is to call the facility to confirm before traveling, since schedules change.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
