Rhode Island Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)

Rhode Island is unusual, and that is good news for families trying to find someone: it runs a unified system, covering jail and prison together, and all six of its housing facilities sit on one site, the Pastore Government Center Complex in Cranston. The guide lists each facility with its address, phone number, and warden, so whether your loved one is at the Intake Service Center, the High Security Center, Maximum Security, Medium Security, Minimum Security, or the Gloria McDonald Women's Facility, the details are in one place.

Mail goes to a separate box for each facility. For example, mail for the Intake Service Center goes to P.O. Box 8249, Cranston, RI 02920, while mail for the Women's Facility goes to P.O. Box 8312, Cranston, RI 02920. The guide gives the box for every facility, so check it before you write.

For visiting, each facility posts a monthly visitation schedule on its department web page, and the department also posts schedules on its Facebook page. Video visitation is available, each warden sets the facility's days, times, and visitor limits, and visitor photographs are suspended until further notice. Visit requirements follow RIDOC Visits Policy 24.03. The department's general information line is (401) 462-1000, with records and identification at (401) 462-3900.

The full guide, compiled in November 2026 from the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, gathers all six facilities for families.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
