Vermont Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)
Vermont's six correctional facilities all run visits by housing unit, and the times differ from place to place, so the first step is finding your loved one's unit. The guide covers every facility under Commissioner Jon Murad, with an address and phone number for each, and it reminds families that schedules change, so calling ahead is the safest way to plan.
At Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington, the women's facility led by Superintendent Carolyn Riley, weekend visits run by unit: Foxtrot on Sunday mornings from 8:15 to 10:00, House I on Saturday afternoons from 1:15 to 3:00, and evening visits for House II, Delta, and Echo from 6:45 to 8:30. Marble Valley in Rutland and Southern State in Springfield also run weekend visits by unit, while Northeast in St. Johnsbury runs weekday visits by unit. At Northern State in Newport and Northwest State in St. Albans, weekend visits are set by the incarcerated person's last name.
If you need help beyond the visit, the guide lists Vermont resources too: VT Helplink, reached by calling or texting LINK to 802-565-5465 or toll-free 833-565-5465, free and confidential around the clock; dial 2-1-1 for shelter and treatment referrals; and call or text 988 for crisis support any hour.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
