Washington Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)

Washington does not publish one statewide visiting schedule, so each prison sets its own visiting hours and event calendar on its own facility page. The guide, covering the facilities under Secretary Tim Lang, points families to the DOC Prison Visits pages and to each prison's Visiting Hours page, linked from the DOC Contact Prisons page. One note matters for every call you make: the DOC says these phone numbers cannot be used to reach incarcerated individuals.

Mail to an incarcerated person goes to a facility P.O. Box. Airway Heights Corrections Center uses P.O. Box 2049 in Airway Heights; Washington Corrections Center in Shelton uses P.O. Box 900; and Monroe Correctional Complex assigns P.O. Boxes by unit, including P.O. Box 777 for IMU and WSRU and P.O. Box 7001 for MSU. The guide lists a phone number for each of the ten facilities, from Airway Heights at (509) 244-6700 to Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla at (509) 525-3610.

Because visiting times live on each facility's page and change, the guide's steady advice is to call the facility to confirm before traveling. The DOC central office is in Tumwater, with mail to P.O. Box 41100, Olympia, WA 98504-1100, and its phone number is (360) 725-8213.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
