Wisconsin Department of Corrections: What Families Need to Know (2026)
Wisconsin's guide covers 38 adult institutions, correctional centers, and system offices under Secretary Jared Hoy, and visiting is handled facility by facility: each institution posts its own visiting hours and visitor guide on the DOC Visiting Information page, and those schedules are not reproduced in the guide itself. That means the guide's job is to get you to the right facility page, with the address, phone number, and warden or superintendent for each site.
The range is wide, from Dodge Correctional Institution and Waupun Correctional Institution in Waupun to Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, Green Bay Correctional Institution, and the Milwaukee sites, including the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility and the Milwaukee Women's Correctional Center. Two mailing notes in the guide: Oshkosh Correctional Institution takes mail at P.O. Box 3530 in Oshkosh, and staff and business mail for Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution goes to P.O. Box 269 in Prairie du Chien.
As with every state, the guide repeats one piece of advice that protects your trip: schedules change, so call the facility to confirm before you travel. The DOC central office is at 3099 East Washington Avenue, Madison, WI 53704, and its phone number is (608) 240-5000.

Cell Secretary is a white-glove concierge service for incarcerated people and their families. If it can be done legally and ethically on the outside, we can usually do it for you.
